The perfect way to begin a fall morning is with a hot cup of pumpkin-flavored coffee with warming spices and plenty of sweet frothy milk. Fully customizable to fit your taste and made from the comfort of your own home.
Servings: 1person
Ingredients
2shotsespresso or 1/2-1 cup of strong coffee
2/3cmilk of your choice
2Tbsppumpkin puree
2Tbspbrown sugar or other sweetener
1tspvanilla extract
1tsppumpkin spice
sea salta pinch
Instructions
Make two shots of espresso or 1/2-1 cup of strong, brewed coffee.
Optional: Steam 2/3 c hot milk. You can do this with a milk steamer if you have one, or you can use a hand mixer or whisk to whip hot (but not boiling) milk on the stove.
Put 2 Tbsp of pumpkin puree in your coffee cup. If you're using homemade, make sure the puree is very fine and not pulpy so that it dissolves into the drink.
To the pumpkin puree, add 1-2 Tbsp of brown sugar or any sweetener of your choice, 1 tsp of vanilla extract, and 1 tsp of pumpkin spice. See notes for making your own pumpkin spice. Reserve a bit of the pumpkin spice to top the drink with. Lastly, add a small pinch of sea salt.
Pour hot coffee or espresso into the coffee cup and stir with the other ingredients until the sugar is dissolved. Then pour the rest of the steamed, frothy milk into the cup. Sprinkle pumpkin spice on top.
Notes
If you don't have pumpkin spice, combine the following for the latte: 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon, 1/8 tsp nutmeg, 1/8 tsp allspice, 1/4 tsp cloves. I also like to add 1/8 tsp of cardamom and ginger to mine.
